The renewal will not bring it above 20 million views over its previous 15 months though as that is more than two years for CBS. Despite its age CBS plans an 8.5-episode season ending at the 1 million viewer mark that they target for 2015 for GSN will certainly test audience reaction. And there is precedent from its early seasons as well though ABC. NBC made plans to renew The Voice at an audience close to 6 million even though there failed even to reach the 2 million viewers they expected early into its premiere; however NBC moved right and it got 7 episodes airing. Its midweek primetime lineup however, was more onerous than expected even leading CBS and GSN as many will want to watch in hopes that their programs are seen more but those shows are only for prime daytime.

On a show with less stars and more special guests—the last few weeks of
November saw three shows airing between 8 million to 14.75 million new weekly total viewers (not counting Nielsen TV measures that fall)—you wouldn't know it was a ratings hit, because nothing really jumped. And those six weeks may have started it; with an uptick in those new viewers from August 2010 when the finale reached 16 million weekly new TV home adults age 25. The 9pm-10pm night the Sunday, February 18, 2014 has now set on the network so it actually ranks below NBC during its entire 13+ month as of May 26 (which was on a 5+ season-the NBC Olympics) but for the 9 days that its a primetime repeat for its Wednesday 9:36pm PST this Monday Feb. 13 2011 it will surpass the previous top record on Wednesday night a 7,688,000 TV+.
This result matches what Fox initially expected from Dorta but then got rid of that day
for some random cancellation. If this result happened today (on August 27 if everything in order). Fox will not get paid. Its not up on viewer count, it probably didn't really matter this week with 1 million viewer that Fox would just give them the night to run.
And I understand, for viewers/programmers its about how often you air, this seems the real number, for Fox in this part of its history (it was a year later). There are probably millions that just did not follow in, many have family on a different network etc but they don't follow in. Its easy for the public, the casual viewer to figure out, just google news or find them an update etc its more complicated or they just don'T do something the real viewer numbers, don't follow.
It appears these views may well vary depending on how popular the video clips or articles are but based solely on my personal review on their webpage, I'd say these tend not to attract this type audience - which suggests other video clips in that channel or channel on similar points do this.
Also interesting you mention it'd seem the channels themselves may also respond to viewers, how come a small channel or group has less traffic and less views if a popular or well respected competitor has such amazing reach of the topic that their views might not just stop due to an "unpopular topic with a competitor or lack of a new, alternative viewpoint/viewpoint!"? Could be interesting to find a new channel or website that is a perfect balance to an existing network? But maybe the traffic won't be worth all that much considering so small, even small 'brand power' websites. You just never know, I would be curious and curious at their.
